When our mindset is switched to Survival, at some level we don’t feel OK – with ourselves, with others, or both. Showing up from Survival leads to a climate where people hide mistakes, feel ignored, disengaged and are less creative.
When our Mindset is switched to Survival, we don’t feel OK. Our puzzle pieces become misshapen and disconnected. We lose our ability to be present with our emotions and with others. We may find it hard to listen fully, or to pay attention to others’ needs. This in turn leads to defensive reaction and behaviour where we shield ourselves from our own and others’ feelings or anxieties. This may result in us feeling less trusted and therefore less trusting of others. We feel like we have no influence or control and are less likely to look after ourselves as we don’t feel valued or indeed value others.
When completing Mindset to Growth please remember that:
- Understanding our mindset practice of emotional intelligence can help us identify which habits support our performance from Growth, or tip us into Survival. Where is your mindset and intention: are you in Survival or Growth?
